Help has finally arrived, courtesy of The Protein Bakery in Chelsea.
It’s a local, small business that's churning out protein-rich, low carb, gluten-free, trans fat-free and wheat flour-free cookies, brownies, blondies and minis, in flavors we love. Like Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Ginger Oatmeal Raisin. (Which is one of three low-sugar items.)
All handmade. All fresh-baked.
We did some unscientific analysis of our own and discovered that the protein count in their bakery snacks – typically 8-16 grams each- far outweighs what’s in anything Keebler has to offer, but doesn’t quite measure up to, say, the 33 grams you’ll find in a (cardboard-tasting) protein bar.
So what have we concluded? The Protein Bakery is a good thing, particularly for those who are tempted to follow every workout with a quick visit to the processed cookie aisle at their local supermarket. Junk food junkies can feel whey better ingesting these little fresh-baked gems. Perfect fuel to have on hand to recharge at the gym. You can pick up their snacks at LA Fitness, Equinox and fresh&co in Chelsea Piers Sports Center.
